Now in its fifth year, Festival Madre Tierra returns with fresh energy and a mission to deepen connections with the communities of Lake Arenal and Monteverde. This year’s approach focuses on small, impactful experiences that encourage environmental awareness and local action. THIS FESTIVAL is APRIL 20 to 24th

Launched in 2020 during the pandemic as a series of online talks and live music, the festival has transformed over time. In recent years, it found a home at Parque del Lago in Nuevo Arenal, hosting music, eco-fairs, and family-friendly activities. For 2025, the celebration becomes decentralized, reaching schools, businesses, and community centers across Nuevo Arenal, El Asentamiento, Río Piedras, Tronadora, El Castillo, and Monteverde. Key venues include Finca Alquimia, Rancho Margot, Lake Arenal Jungle Resort, Moya’s Place, and Escuela Los Amigos in Monteverde.

With the guiding theme “Festival Madre Tierra – Itinerant and International: Pollinating the Future and Cultivating Knowledge,” the festival aims to leave a meaningful mark on each community. The idea is to take action through everyday efforts, combining local initiatives with global awareness. Each session, workshop, or gathering serves as a spark to inspire positive environmental change.

This collective effort is made possible by organizations like the Red de Pueblos Polinizadores, Nativas Lab, Casas Vida Libre, Lake Arenal Adventures, Aire Libre Adventures, Andru Bec, and Jimmy Loop, with support from the Lago Arenal-Tenorio and Pájaro Campana Biological Corridors—and of course, each host venue bringing the festival to life.

The overarching goal is to weave together communities, promote a respect for all living things, and build a conservation culture centered around pollinators. Ultimately, it’s about nurturing care, respect, and love for both nature and human connection.

Everyone is welcome to join—from your home, your school, or your workplace—because real change starts wherever you are.
